Barebells, the UK brand of protein bars and milkshakes, has announced a strategic partnership with Maverick Race, the British trail-running community. The company will support Maverick Race throughout 2021 as an official partner and will have a sponsored presence at forthcoming run events.

In addition to supporting Maverick Race with prizes for race winners, Barebells will also provide a protein bar to every event runner taking part in 2021 events. There will also be Barebells gifts for all Maverick Run Project subscribers, with top subscribers receiving a bar and a 15% off voucher to purchase Barebells via Amazon.

Maria Ledesma, trade marketing manager for Barebells UK & IE, commented: “We actively seek to partner with like-minded businesses and individuals that find innovative ways of exercising and pushing their limits.

“Having long been a personal fan of Maverick Race, I knew that this year we could help support them in their new projects as well as virtually. I’m proud to see their brand go from strength to strength and be part of the next step in their journey.”

Maverick Race began in 2015, co-founded by Ben Macwilliam and Justin Bufton. The pair have focused on the beauty of running in the British countryside and offer trail runs that suit runners of all fitness levels and abilities.

“We are eager to announce our partnership with Barebells and have their support on our 2021 plans,” said Macwilliam. “Covid-19 may have changed what outdoor fitness events can do currently, but we’re confident that we can still unite runners virtually and help us all achieve new fitness goals via our new venture: the Maverick Race Run Project.”

Macwilliam explained that Maverick Race now offers runners opportunities to join at different levels.

“We’re excited to welcome more runners into our community. When events do return later this year, we’re excited to have Barebells supporting us as we continue on our mission to take runners off the roads and out to some of the most scenic routes through the British countryside.”

The Barebells brand was launched in 2016 and today it offers a broad range of protein-enriched alternatives to snacks and desserts.

The bar range is available in seven flavours, all with added sugar, and 20 grams of protein. Barebells also launched a vegan range in two flavours.

The lactose-free, no-added-sugar milkshake range comprises four flavours, and each serving of provides 24 grams of protein.
