Sproud pea mil product range

Sproud, which produces plant-based milk made from yellow split peas, has been certified by Sugarwise, the international certification authority for sugar claims. 

The certification was developed to help consumers make informed and health-conscious decisions and Sproud is the first plant-based milk brand to receive it. 

Malmö -based Sproud has also appointed registered nutritionist Charlotte Stirling-Reed as its nutrition consultant to advise on the development of the company’s plant-based product range. Stirling-Reed has worked as a nutritionist in various sectors, including the British National Health Service and with numerous brands. She specialises in maternal, infant and child nutrition.

Sproud launched in Sweden in 2018 and its products are available in 15 markets via retailers and online supermarkets, such as Waitrose and Ocado in the UK. Its product range includes unsweetened, barista, original and chocolate. The unsweetened product is now Sugarwise certified ‘sugar free’, while the barista’ and original received Sugarwise certification for being ‘low sugar’. All four products are now certified by Sugarwise as ‘reduced carb’.

Sproud supplies some of the largest hospitality chains in the Nordics, including Espresso House and Clarion Hotel. The company’s investors include VGC Partners, a venture firm based in London, Findeln Holding, a Malmö-based, family-owned investment company in which Sproud co-founder Nicklas Jungberg is a majority shareholder, and Swedish investment group Dream Beverage. To-date, the company has raised £8.7 million.
