Plant-based snacks Outstanding Foods gets $5m and celebrity investor
LA Lakers JaVale McGee has joined the $5 million funding round led by SternAegis Ventures
Outstanding Foods, a California-based snacks company, has closed a $5 million round of financing led by SternAegis Ventures. The plant-based snacks brand has also revealed that LA Lakers JaVale McGee has joined the company as an investor.
The snacks maker is bullish on the potential growth on the horizon. Following the launch of PigOut Pigless Pork Rinds earlier this year, Outstanding Foods is preparing to roll out new products with the cash injection.
“This funding provides us with the opportunity to reach more consumers and give them more ways to snack on great-tasting, healthy, plant-based snacks,” said Bill Glaser, chief executive and co-founder of Outstanding Foods.
The PigOut Pigless Pork Rinds range has been created by celebrity chef Dave Anderson who has turned wholesome plant-based ingredients, packed with protein and other health benefits, into the snacks.
“Soon [consumers] will be able to experience other Outstanding snacks that we feel will be game-changers!” commented Glaser.
Outstanding Foods said that its partnership with JaVale McGee, a world-class athlete who has thrived on plant-based foods, will also show athletes, fans, and the world that a healthy protein-packed snack can be both nutritious and delicious.
“PigOut Rinds are one of the best snacks I’ve tried,” said McGee. “You’d never know they’re plant-based and packed with clean protein to keep you fueled. I’m excited to join their team.”
Outstanding Foods said the new capital will facilitate faster R&D, nationwide marketing, retail expansion, and team development.
