Mexico: Sigma chooses Eatable Adventures for accelerator Tastech

The food processing and distribution company seeks to identify the most disruptive companies in the food industry, with the collaboration of Eatable Adventures

Sigma Alimentos, a Mexican food processing and distribution company with a global footprint, has joined forces with Spanish business accelerator Eatable Adventures to launch the second edition of its business accelerator Tastech. The programme aims to find the most innovative and disruptive start-ups and scale-ups in the world to collaborate with Sigma.

The first edition of Tastech by Sigma registered 123 start-ups applications from 19 countries, of which seven developed pilot tests in Mexico, Ecuador, Portugal, and Spain – four companies will formalise a long-term relationship with Sigma.

The finalist projects had access to financial support for the development of the pilots, the company’s infrastructure and the knowledge of its specialists to develop their disruptive ideas. The aim was to improve process automation, develop new foods and ingredients, and identify new business models in food production, distribution and marketing.

This year, Tastech by Sigma seeks the participation of start-ups and scale-ups that propose innovative solutions in three different challenges – the Future Food, Green Tech, and Power Connections.

Madrid-based business accelerator Eatable Adventures will collaborate with Sigma in the Future of Food challenge. The company is scouting foods and ingredients that incorporate animal and or vegetable proteins, as well as solutions that increase the nutritional value of culinary experiences and allow for reduced sodium, sugar and fat content.

Interested companies can submit applications until 26 April, and the selection of the finalists will take place on 13 May. More information on the Tastech website.
