Chocopro, a Lebanese plant-based protein bar, is in expansion mode and seeks distributors to carry the brand in the US, across Europe and the Asia Pacific.

Nutritionist Eliane Medawar co-founded, Chocopro with her partner in 2018. Medawar told NutritionInvestor the expansion plan stems from booming sales in the country. “Our sales tripled in less than a year!” she said.

Chocopro, Medawar said, is sold across Lebanon in healthy shops and domestic online retailers. The country’s population is 6.8 million.

“Chocopro was born in my clinic where many of my patients had gluten and lactose intolerance,” explained Medawar. She looked for a tasty healthy bar that meets all the requirements on the market and couldn’t find any. “I then decided to create my own! I combined my creativity with the market’s demand for healthy food to create a product that was beyond expectations: a superfood,” she explained.

Medawar said all products under the Chocopro brand are 100% handmade and natural. “No protein powders, chemicals or preservatives are added, only natural extracts!” she said.

The Chocopro range includes a dark chocolate flavour, which is certified vegan, and a milk chocolate flavour suitable for vegetarian diets.

“Chocopro Dark is certified by the Industrial Research Institute as gluten-free, lactose-free, cholesterol-free and trans-fat-free,” said Medawar, adding the product delivers 10 grams of pure plant protein.

The Chocopro Milk range is made with a recipe for vegetarian diets. “It is gluten-free, contains 12 grams of pure plant protein, and fresh milk proteins, with 2.5 grams of branched amino acids (BCAA),” she concluded.
