Canada: Modern Meat secures D2C partnership with Canadian ecommerce platform

Plant-based foods brand to include its products in truLOCAL’s online subscription box service in British Colombia

Modern Meat has secured a D2C partnership with truLOCAL to sell its products in the ecommerce platform’s subscription box service.

The platform serves customers in Canadian provinces Ontario, British Colombia, Alberta and Quebec as well as 27 US states. Its subscription box was sent out 80,000 in 2020.

Modern Meat’s products will be available to purchase via the site in its home province of British Colombia. 

Modern Meat CEO and founder Tara Haddad said the partnership would help fuel the company’s expansion plans.

“There is no doubt that people are after convenience and quality and through truLOCAL’s vast distribution network and consumer base we are closer to our goal of becoming a household name for great-tasting, nutritious and sustainable protein alternatives,” she said.

TruLOCAL connects health-conscious consumers to high-end, locally sourced products across North America.

In January, Modern Meat bolstered its product portfolio with the acquisition of plant-based soup company Kitskitchen Health Foods.

It also signed a co-packing agreement with an Australian distributor to launch its products Down Under.
